Big Brother
Season 1: Random Housemates, not a house of death!
Sometimes the death of a sim is unavoidable. Sometimes, it’s even enjoyable. This is a challenge for those who want the most out of their sims, but don’t want a bloodbath.
The idea for this comes from Thranduil Oropherion (link included) who posted a popular Big Brother challenge on at least a handful of Sims sites. My version also encompasses elements from AnnBeiFong, in particular the Head of House idea.
Rule Book:
- There are 8 contestants, 4 female, 4 male, all young adult.
- Each week, there will be two contests. For the first 3 days, a challenge the whole household participates in, such as cooking, logic, earning money. The two losers of this challenge will then participate in a popularity contest that lasts the next three days.
- In the household challenge, the two highest-scoring sims are the winners. The scoring is variable and is generally who wins the most during the challenges. The winner of the cooking contest would be the sim who beats all of their opponents. The loser loses to all of their opponents.
- The winner of the household challenge is declared the Head of House and gains access to the luxurious HoH room (seen below in the layout). The winner is also allowed to fulfil one of their promises each day. Both the winner and second place are exempt from chores for that week.
- The lowest scoring sims are the shameful losers and are up for eviction. The total loser is the one with the lowest score, and receives additional penalties. Both losers must sleep in the Beds of Shame, placed in the Arena in the centre of the house. The two losers are allocated all household chores and repairs.
- The second challenge is the popularity contest, held over three days straight after the household challenge. Only the two losers participate. Each loser must throw a party for the household. The loser is given a buffet table, stereo and picnic tables. The second-last loser gets the advantage of one additional item for their party. This is chosen randomly from juice keg, BBQ and foosball table.
- On the final night of the popularity contest, the two losers are judged on their popularity with the other housemates. Being another sim’s favourite gives +2 points. Being second favourite gives +1. Being least favourite gives -2 points, and being second-least favourite gives -1.
- The losers’ scores are tallied, and the sim with the lowest score is evicted from the house forever. They must leave through the eviction room and the Tunnel of Humiliation.
- After the eviction, the beds of shame are removed from the Arena. The HoH room is locked. A bunk bed is placed back into the bedroom and the HoH and “winning” loser reassigned to bunk beds.
- The last day of the week is a free day. I generally have my sims clean the house and then they’re allowed to visit a place in town. When everyone is in bed for the night, the Arena is set up for the next household challenge. And it begins again.
House Layout:

Notes about the layout:
- The pool is fenced in with no access until the week of the athletic challenge.
- Doors that need to come off: the front door, the HoH room door into the arena, and the Eviction Room door from the bathroom.
- I included a fire alarm by the fire. Some people prefer not to.
- The Arena becomes the Shame Room during the popularity contest. Two low-quality beds are set up here with a stereo between them. Inappropriate sims will often turn the stereo on and disturb the losers in the middle of the night.
- Even good quality toilets constantly break. This is a job for your losers to fix!
- A laundry is necessary if you don’t want piles of clothes lying around everywhere.
Special Rules:
Strikes:
- Housemates are given strikes for various offences.
1. Fighting. If you can’t determine who started the fight, both fighting sims are given a strike.
2. Hygiene. Any sim who lets their hygiene drop to the red is given a strike. The exception to this is sims actively in a challenge (e.g. a sim who drops into the red whilst on a treadmill challenge won’t be given a strike).
3. Not participating in challenges, or otherwise making my life hard, will result in a strike. - On a sim’s third strike, they will be force fed a birthday cake. This will cause them to age up. The punishment for dissent, is age!
Promises:
- I let each sim in the household fill their four promises with whatever came along first. I make no effort to fulfil these promises unless the sim is the current HoH/ winner, in which case the HoH has one promise fulfilled for each day they remain Head of House.
That’s all I can think of. If you have any questions or comments, fire away!
